Before you arrive
The single best piece of advice for first-time attendees is to prepare before day one. The Agorify event platform opens well ahead of the summit. Download the app, complete your profile and get familiar with it, because check-in runs through the app on the day.
With fifteen stages over three days, building your agenda in advance is essential. Many experienced attendees choose one or two stages as their “home” and mark a handful of must-see sessions elsewhere.
The platform also shows who else is attending and lets you book meetings. The most valuable conversations are often arranged weeks in advance, so don’t wait until you arrive.
Some formats have very limited capacity. Workshops are capped at 24 participants and Executive Round Tables at 32, and hackathons have limited places too. Pre-register as soon as registration opens.
Getting there and where to stay
Kistamässan is in Kista, Stockholm’s technology district, in the north of the city. The easiest way to get there is the subway: take the blue line from T-Centralen towards Akalla and get off at Kista. The journey takes about 17 minutes, and the venue is a short walk from the station. From Arlanda Airport, a taxi to Kista takes around 25 minutes. Alternatively, take the train to Stockholm City and change to the blue line. Directions and parking information are on the Kistamässan website.
The summit’s hotel partners are voco Kista, Hotel Birger Jarl and Scandic Hotels. Staying at voco Kista puts you within walking distance of the venue. Staying centrally at Birger Jarl or one of the Scandic hotels means a short subway ride each morning, but leaves you in the heart of Stockholm in the evenings. The Hyperight team can tell you about available hotel discounts at [email protected]. A complimentary wardrobe at the venue means you can leave coats and bags there during the day.
Making the most of the summit
It is tempting to switch stages every half hour to see as much as possible. Most regular attendees advise against it. You tend to miss the most valuable part of each session, and every presentation is recorded anyway, so you can catch up later.
Instead, use the expo deliberately. Technology in Practice sessions run live demonstrations at exhibitor stands throughout the Foundation Days, and planning which ones to see makes the expo far more useful than wandering.
If a popular room fills up, don’t worry. Thanks to the hybrid format, you can watch any session live on your phone through the Agorify app.
Don’t underestimate the breaks either. Fika, the Swedish tradition of pausing for coffee and something sweet, is where many of the best conversations at the summit begin.
The evenings are where networking turns into relationships. On the first evening, 18 May, the Expo Crawl is followed by the DAIR Awards ceremony, celebrating the Nordic organisations leading in data and AI. On the second evening, 19 May, the Expo Crawl leads into Data After Dark, the summit’s well-known networking party. Both take place at the venue. On Friday 21 May, many delegates join the DIS 10 km Run through central Stockholm. It is a relaxed, non-competitive run starting from Kungsträdgården at 10:00.
After the summit
The summit does not end when you leave Kista. Recordings of every session stay available on the platform for five weeks, so you can watch what you missed and share sessions with colleagues.
Follow up with the people you met within a week, while the conversations are still fresh. Write a short briefing for your team with three insights and three actions; it is the best way to turn three days of learning into lasting change.
Good to know
All sessions are held in English. You can register dietary requirements when you book. The venue is accessible, and the workshop rooms on the lower floor can be reached by elevator. Wi-Fi is available throughout the venue, and charging points can be found across the expo areas. A certificate of attendance can be provided on request.
